Goodness, finally I finished it! There was a moment when I wanted just drop everything and start doing something else. To be honest, I drew this picture just because I thought like "Hey, Nightmare Moon would look awesome with chimneys instead of mane!" But it grew a... little... bigger than I thought.
So, yeah, as you can see, I drew the battle between NMM and Celestia. I tried to steampunk them, but do you know how damn hard is to draw a steampunk armor?
I don't know if the princessess here are steampunk enough to consider them as a part of my series. Because I'm lazy and there's still so many other ponies to draw, I'll say "of course they do". And what do you think?
Other Steampunk Ponies: The Lady - Rarity [link] The Inventor - Twilight Sparkle [link] The Mechanic - Applejack [link] The Timid - Fluttershy [link] The Pilot - Rainbow Dash [link] The Random - Pinkie Pie [link] --- The Dentist - Colgate [link] The Flyers - Spitfire and Soarin' [link] The Smuggler - Carrot Top [link] The Messenger - Derpy Hooves [link] The Dreamer - Lyra [link] The Professor - Cheerilee [link] The Virtuoso - Octavia [link] The Evil Queen - Chrysalis [link] The DJ - Vinyl Scratch [link] The Soldier - Big Macintosh [link] The Illusionist - Trixie [link]
You've gotten most of the steampunk feel here but I think the metal looks a bit flat and is missing that shine wich is rather important in steampunk.
I love the way you made NMM's mane and tail, smoke, brilliant.
I really like the style, how your image has some sketchy shadowing lines, and some of the undersketch is still showing, but still the whole piece looks finished an not messy at all.
I like the simplisity in the stars on the left, especially the one that looks kinda like an S.
I think the only downsides in here is Celestias left back hoove. It is really thin in that joint, wich looks rather unatural.
I do believe that should cover it all, love your work and drawingstyle, hope to see more soon!
i absolutely adore this. the sketch-like feel adds to the steampunkness of it, and the detail is beautiful. i especially like some of the artistic license taken with Nightmare Moon. bat-like, flying machine wings, and whats behind her coming from her mane is great. Celestia's mane is simple but gorgeous, and contrasts well. if i had to make a complaint though, its that the picture is a little cluttered in the center. its hard to take in all the detail of the steampunk machinery on their armour when there so close, although that does add to the intensity. over all, very nice, but could use some spacing so you could see better.
No, seriously, man.. or woman... I dunno, just got here searching for Cheerilee stuff, then found steampunk cheerilee, then ended up browsing steampunk ponies...
that is an epic battle, and though all the detail around the center is confusing it kind of adds to it. and also, all the little drawing lines you left in there add to the piece, give it a more motion and emotion, in my opinion. great job, and fantastic artwork altogether.
Wow! This is simply fantastic, and exactly what I'm looking for... Could I possibly use this as the video art for a song I'm posting to YouTube soon? I will be sure to link back to it here and give you full credit of course...
